Capital Senior Center offers Lunch & Learn programs

Capital Senior Center is partnering with Hospice Care of Tri–County to offer Lunch & Learn Programs designed to meet the needs of area seniors. Bring your own lunch; beverages and snacks will be provided. These programs will take place on Wednesdays beginning September 1, 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Programs will continue for eight weeks.

Getting a Better Night’s Sleep

This workshop discusses the importance of sleep, ways to change sleep habits, and implement routines for optimal sleep. September 1, 11:30 a.m. Power of Humor

Humor has been found to have a number of benefits. This program will provide individuals with knowledge of the benefits of laughter, and tips on how to add humor into every day life. September 8, 11:30 a.m.

Heart Smart

According to the American Heart Association, coronary heart disease is America’s number one killer. Learn the signs of heart disease and how to prevent it. September 15, 11:30 a.m.

Getting the most out of Your Doctor Visit

Making the most of your doctor’s appointment requires preparation and follow– through. This presentation helps participants to plan what to say and ask about diagnosis, treatment options, and procedures. September 22, 11:30 a.m.

Don’t Stress, Decompress Stress Management

This workshop breaks down the various aspects and impact of stress. It will provide participants with techniques on how to deal with stressful situations and take care of themselves by practicing numerous relaxation techniques. September 29, 11:30 a.m.

Power of Music

Music has been found to have a number of therapeutic qualities, that include promoting wellness, managing stress, alleviating pain, and enhancing memory. Participants will discuss these benefits and learn how to use them in their daily lives. October 6, 11:30 a.m.

Stroke Basics

This workshop defines “stroke” and discusses how to identify the warning signs and lessen the likelihood of experiencing a stroke. October 13, 11:30 a.m.

Tips to Make Life Easier

Participants discuss the importance of finding a balance in life. They will learn techniques and equipment to make your life easier when dealing with arthritis and other physical limitations. October 20, 11:30 a.m.
