Filipino american association to celebrate annual gala

The Filipino American Association of Greater Columbia (FAAGC) will celebrate its 20th Annual Gala and 19th Anniversary Ball with a formal dinner, dance, and cultural show presented by the Columbia Fil–Am Dance Troupe.

The gala will be held Saturday, September 18, 6 p.m. to midnight, at The Embassy Suites Hotel, 200 Stoneridge Drive.

Tickets are $50 for adults, $35 for students (before September 11); $60 for adults, $45 for students (after September 11 and at the door); $25 for children age 10–12. Babysitting will be provided for a nominal fee for children ages 2–9.

Proceeds of the event will benefit the FAAGC Scholarship Fund, Cultural Center Building Fund, the Columbia Fil –Am Dance Troupe, and various activities to promote awareness of the Philippine culture and international friendship. Donations can be made by purchasing a sponsorship or advertisement in the souvenir program commemorating the event. Part of the contributions will further benefit The Philippine Red Cross and other charities that the FAAGC supports. In the past, donations have been made to assist the flood victims of Typhoon Ondoy, children’s programs (particularly in poverty–stricken urban areas), and other casualties of calamities, such as the 1991 Mount Pinatubo eruption.

Ticket orders and payments must be turned in by September 11 to accommodate hotel–meal requirements. Ads and donations must be turned in by September 8 to be included in the souvenir program.
