The City of West Columbia has been working with the County of Lexington, the City of Cayce, the Town of Springdale, Lexington Medical Center, Columbia Metropolitan Airport, and Midlands Technical College to study the funding options for transportation services in Lexington County. This group, the Transportation Work Group, is working with the Central Midlands Regional Transit Authority (CMRTA) to extend current services for nine months, from October 1, 2010, through June 30, 2011, to give the group time to explore future funding options.

Each member of the Transportation Work Group is responsible for a portion of the funding of the total cost of $53,181.36. The West Columbia City Council approved to provide its portion which is 18% of the total cost or $9,838.55 to extend all current fixedroute transit and DART Paratransit Services provided by the Central Midlands Regional Transit Authority (CMRTA) from October 1, 2010, to June 30, 2011.
