Scotty Peek Scotty Peek Artist Scotty Peek has joined the Heathwood Hall Episcopal School faculty and will serve as Upper School art teacher, instruct- ing students in grades nine through 12.

Peek holds a bachelor of fine arts degree from Austin Peay State University and a master of fine arts degree (drawing major; 3-D design minor) from the University of South Carolina. He has served in a number of instructional roles at Midlands Technical College, the University of South Carolina, Columbia Museum of Art, McKissick Museum, and the Sumter County Gallery of Art.

Peek has also been a tenure track assistant professor of art and photography at South Carolina State University since 2008.

In addition to his roles in the classroom, Peek is very active with his own work and has appeared in numerous exhibitions, earning a number of grants and honors along the way. His most recent work can be found in the oil portrait of former USC Dean of Libraries, Paul Willis, which was unveiled in September.

Peek’s philosophy about teaching is also well suited for the mission of Heathwood Hall Episcopal School, “I teach the use of tools but always keep the students focused on the resulting image or object. I teach resourcefulness. I teach students how to search and find the answers to solve their problems and achieve their goals.”
