Curtis Howard Dickerson

Curtis Howard Dickerson, 75, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Fr iday, October 5, 2012. Born on October 21, 1936, in Columbia, Curtis was educated in the Columbia City school system. He attended the Universi ty of South Carol ina and proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He worked for R.L. Kight, CPA; for Bill Edens Trucking; as president of Republic National Bank; as CFO for Edens & Avant; and finished his career with East Coast Truck Lines. He retired in 2006.

Curtis loved his house at Lake Murray where he enjoyed f ishing and boat ing. He also enjoyed attending University of South Carolina sporting events. Cur t is was a former Sunday school teacher and treasurer at St . Mark Uni ted Methodist Church and was a member of Northside Baptist Church. Curtis was actively involved in the Boy Scouts of Amer ica and many other civic and charitable activities.

Curtis is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Linda Blair Dickerson; his daughter, Sarena D. (Preston) Burch; his sister, Darlene Dickerson (Steve) Cox; his brother, William Randall ( Terri) Dickerson; several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Sam. He was predeceased by his daughter, Lisa Blair Dickerson; brothers, Glenn and Charles Dickerson; his parents, Boyd and Margaret Dickerson, and his parents-in-law, Robert and Sam Blair.

Cur t is was a loving and devoted husband, brother, father, and friend and will be greatly missed.

Funeral service for Curtis Howard Dickerson was held 4:00 p.m. Monday, October 8, 2012, at Northside Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Dr. Steve Cloud, Rev. Rocky Purvis, and Rev. Scott Crede. Burial was private. Honorary pallbearers were Tolbert Mitchell, Brian Dickerson, Alan Dickerson, Daniel Dickerson, Joe Frank Watson, Stephen H. Cox, Mitchell Peterson, and Samuel Crapps. The family will be at the home at 1741 Chimney Swift Lane, West Columbia. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.
