Miss Pearce and Mr. Menzies exchange vows September 2, 2017


Mrs. Harry Frederick Graham Menzies Mrs. Harry Frederick Graham Menzies Kathryn McCain Pearce and Harry Frederick Graham Menzies were married September 2, 2017, at six o’clock in the evening at Saint Philip’s Church, Charleston, South Carolina. A reception immediately followed at the Hibernian Society of Charleston. The marriage is announced by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Walton Pearce Jr., the bride’s parents.

Mrs. Menzies, the former Kathryn McCain Pearce is the granddaughter of Mrs. Ann Rawl McCain and Mr. George Spruce McCain of Columbia, South Carolina, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Walton Pearce Sr. of Charleston, South Carolina. The bride is a graduate of Ashley Hall and received a bachelor of science in business administration with a concentration in marketing and public health from the University of South Carolina. She is the founder and CEO of the Blake House Collection, an online clothing company.

Mr. Menzies is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Charles Graham Menzies of Charlotte, North Carolina. He is the grandson of the late Mr. Robert Mervyn Fitz Finnis and the Hon. Mrs. (Finnis) Seymour and the late Major George Raymond Seymour, MVO, all of London, England.

A graduate of Charlotte Country Day School, the bridegroom received a bachelor of science degree in international business and finance from the University of South Carolina. Mr. Menzies is employed in the Capital Markets Division of Bank of America/Merrill Lynch.

The bride was escorted and given in marriage by her father. Elizabeth Connor Tew, of Nashville, Tennessee, served as maid of honor and Sara Ann McCain Russo of Columbia, South Carolina, served as matron of honor.

Other attendants were Mary Magill Blair, Caroline Williams Melton, and Amelia Sarah Graham Menzies of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina; Margaret Olivia Gibson and Lauren Holley Davies, both of Charlotte, North Carolina; Sarah Eaddy Norvell of Trinidad, California; Erika Louise Scott of Fort Worth, Texas; and Frances Josephine Vain of St. Louis, Missouri.

Angus Robert Graham Menzies served as his brother’s best man. The groomsmen in the wedding party were the bride’s brothers: Robert Walton Pearce III of Auckland, New Zealand, and Richard Blake Pearce of Charlotte, North Carolina; Ross Edward Alberghini, Christopher Bryan Davies, Christopher Morrison Sheehan, and John Tipton Wheatley also of Charlotte, North Carolina; Sam Harbord-Hamond and George Harbord-Hamond of London, England; Thiago Augusto Bitencourt Pinheiro of Jacksonville, Florida; and Ralph Henry Walker IV of Greenville, South Carolina.

Mrs. Menzies’s ivory fit to flare gown was created by renowned designer Paloma Blanca. The bodice was constructed of intricate French alençon lace. The sheer bateau neckline was beautifully complemented by a low v-shaped back trimmed in lovely lace scallop. The fitted skirt portion of the gown was constructed of a rich silk taffeta which continued into a small sweeping train. The gown was accompanied by a chapel-length, detachable train and waist-cinching cummerbund detail sash finished with silk covered buttons. The veil was her mother’s and was made of silk tulle edged with scallop alençon lace.

The wedding service was officiated by The Reverend Brian Kenneth McGreevy, minister of Saint Philip’s, Charleston. Music was provided by the organist and choirmaster, Patricia M. Gould; the Saint Philip’s Choir; Micah Gangwer and Asako Kremer, violinists; Rachel Gangwer, violist; and Damian Kremer, cellist. The bagpipe was provided by Jim Dillahey.

After a wedding trip, the couple will reside in Charlotte, North Carolina.
