The Great Amazing Race is returning. This fun family-friendly activity is open to participants of all ages. Modeled after the popular TV show The Amazing Race, the event will take place at Sesqui State Park Sunday, January 28 at 2 p.m.

The Great Amazing Race is tagged as a fun wellness event for racers ages FOUR to 84 and makes stops in 50 other cities across the U.S.

The Great Amazing Race is an exciting adventure race in which teams of two people complete a 1.5 mile cross country course speckled with up to EIGHT fun-filled outdoor challenges. Clue cards provided at each station instructs teams to complete a challenge (games, obstacles, relays, etc.), before advancing to the next station.

The race is open to everyone—walkers, joggers, and runners. Participants can choose either the recreation and competitive course. Waves begin every 10 minutes—kids team then adult teams. Participants should be prepared to get a little dirty and wet; it’s part of the fun.

Different challenges are set up along the 1.5 mile race. The group asks participants to donate used sneakers to support pediatric cancer research. Area schools and groups can utilize the race as a fundraiser as well and earn $1,000.

Tickets, available online at www.greatamazingrace.com, are priced at $50 per team. Participants may also sign up at the event the day of the race for $60 per team.
