Target offering same-day delivery

Columbia and Lexington Target shoppers can now order items online from their local Target store and have the items delivered to their door the same day. The service, also available in Charleston and Greenville, is offered by online delivery service Shipt and applies to groceries, home essentials, electronics, and other products.

Zeus creating 350 new jobs

Zeus Industrial Products, which makes fluoropolymer tubing, is creating 350 new jobs through a $ 76 million expansion of its plant near Gaston in Calhoun County.

Aspyre sold for $64.5 million

Aspyre, a privately owned 400- unit student housing complex near the University of South Carol ina campus, has been acquired for $ 64.5 million by SmartStop Asset Management, based in Ladera Ranch, Calif.

S.C. reports $5.24 billion in investments

South Carolina brought in 157 economic development projects in 2017, accounting for $5.24 billion in capital investment and 18,445 jobs, according to the S.C. Department of Commerce. The Midlands’ biggest job creator was direct sales clothing retailer LuLaRoe, accounting for 1,000 new positions.

State ranked for doing business

South Carolina is ranked #2 on the 2017 Top States for Doing Business commentary by Area Development magazine, in addition to being awarded a “2017 Si lver Shovel Award” in the States with 3 to 5 Million Population category.

Bank announces bonus programs

South State Bank will distribute $2.7 million in bonuses to more than 2,800 employees on February 9. Full-time employees of the Columbia-headquartered company will receive $ 1,000, and part-time employees will receive $500.

Credit bureaus rank county

Two of the nation’s top credit rating bureaus reaffirmed Richland County’s ratings status. Moody’s Investor Services reaffirmed the county’s top Aaa rating and assigned it a MIG 1 status. Standard and Poor’s assigned the County a SP-1+ rating and reaffirmed its AAA rating.

Business parks add two tenants

Tidewater Boats and Electro- Spec are new tenants in the Multi-County Industrial Parks located on Brickyard Road and Industrial Road in Lexington. Tidewater Boats is investing $8.3 million in a new facility that will add 100 new jobs. Exectro-Spec’s $3.1 million investment will create 55 jobs.

McConnell announces retirement

College of Charleston President Glenn McConnell, 70, is retiring from the school’s top office this summer. McConnell has served in the position since 2014.

The Greenville Area Development Corp. has launched a new website—jobsingreen villesc.com —designed to connect job seekers with the scores of companies the economic development organization has assisted in expanding in or relocating to Greenville County.

Airport has record-breaking year

For the sixth straight year, The Charleston International Airport had a record-breaking year. The number of passengers flying in and out of the airport rose seven percent over 2016, wi th the number of passengers totaling 3,987,427.

Anderson gaining freezer plant

Electrolux North America is shutting down its freezer manufacturing plant in St. Cloud, Minn. in 2019 and moving the production to its plant in Anderson, at 101 Masters Boulevard.

CBS News in New York has identified Beaufort among a list of five surprising romantic getaways in America. CBS cited Beaufort’s rich past and historic mansions under oaks decorated with Spanish moss as reasons for its romantic atmosphere.
