Preservation South Carolina’s nominations are now open for S.C.’s 2018 Historic Preservation Awards and for the 2018 Places at Risk List. Nominations for the Places at Risk List, presented by Preservation S.C., can be a building, structure, site, district, landscape, or streetscape, nominated by a community, group, or an individual. Nominated properties must be at least 50 years old and must be significantly threatened by direct demolition, demolition by neglect, or some other imminent threat. All nomination forms for the 2018 Places at Risk List must be postmarked by April 6, 2018. There are six Historic Preservation Awards: The Honor Awards, Stewardship Awards, Preservation Service Awards, Heritage Tourism Awards, Elected official Honor Award, and the Governor’s Award. Awards forms must be postmarked by March 2, 2018. The Historic Preservation Awards will be notified by mid-April and a formal presentation will take place with the Office of the Governor in June. The Places at Risk List will be announced at S.C.’s Statewide Historic Preservation Conference to be held April 20, 2018. PreserveSC.org.
