She said she could see them stuffing bars and bars of soap into a bag and then they fled out the front door without paying. The clerk said the soap the men stole was probably less than $ 20 worth.

At that time though, the door knob fell off onto the floor. The man said he yelled then and the prowler ran off. When the officers arrived, they found both the indoor and outdoor door knobs had been taken of f . They will be dusted for prints to possibly identify the burglar.

Bethel Church Road: A woman called police at 10 p.m., July 4th after she said a “ bunch of men” were “shooting guns” off a balcony in her apartment complex. The woman told officers she saw three different men walk on the neighboring balcony and point and fire six shots each. She wasn’t sure if anything or anyone had been hit, but she said she wanted them to stop. The officers questioned a group of men playing cards in the common area of the complex, but they denied any knowledge of gunfire or of firing guns. All of them told the officers they “never heard nothing” but 9mm casings were all around the area the neighbor said was used for the shootings. No arrests were made at the time.
