Nickelodeon Theatre participates in New York film critics series

Contributed by Nickelodeon Theatre

The Nickelodeon Theatre is among the select number of theaters taking part in the New York Film Critics Series. This exciting new series, hosted by noteworthy film critic Peter Travers ( Rolling Stone, Newsweek, Huffington Post), presents special monthly advance screenings and live high definition streamed interviews with the actors and directors of highly anticipated films before they are released to the general public.

While regional advance screenings and releases have become more common within the industry, the New York Film Critics Series adds the live conversation component that offers an excellent opportunity for audiences to gain insider insights and interact with talent that was previously unavailable outside of common premier locations such as New York or Los Angeles. Previous NYFCS pre-release screenings have included Nebraska— featuring Q&A with stars Bruce Dern and Wil Forte—and American Hustle, with a live appearance by director David O. Russell.

As one of the 50 select theaters for the NYFCS, this series creates a special chance both for a unique event experience for the Nickelodeon audience, and for film enthusiasts in Columbia to see works that might not have been available for theatrical release in this market.

“Landing this series has solidified the Nickelodeon’s position as the leading film organization in the Southeast and illustrates the exponential growth and progress we’ve experienced over the last few years,” says Janell Rohan, director of programming for the Nickelodeon. “As a film programmer, I am thrilled at this opportunity to bring something so cutting-edge and exclusive to our audiences and members who’ve given us their loyalty and support throughout the years. I’m always inspired by creative ways of expanding the filmgoing experience, and the NYFCS has done just that by curating film events that deepen the connection between the audience and the talent through savvy use of technological innovation.“
